

Additionally, some Youthbuild students may begin taking college classes while still working on their high school degrees, through the school’s dual credit program.Īn interesting sidelight to the day-the tour guide took the Sojourners group aside and related that she had been a high school dropout who received her GED and then entered college. Several Youthbuild students are scheduled to begin their college careers spring quarter,on-site at Sojourners, through distance learning classes from Columbus State. Through its two main campuses’ (Columbus and Delaware), its nine regional campus centers, and its online classrooms, the school offers course work leading to an associate degree, technical degree and/or lower-division preparation for college/university transfer. The Associate of Arts degree Criminology transfer major includes instruction that focuses on the causes and consequences of crime in society. The group learned about the steps to enrollment, saw quite a bit of the school, and ate lunch in the student dining facility.ĭuring the visit, our students and staff learned that CSCC seeks to provide a learner-centered environment that provides the support services which assure that learners attain their educational goals. Formal agreements have been made with colleges and universities which allow for coursework taken in the Associate of Arts degree program at Columbus State to transfer and apply to a bachelor’s degree. After a brief orientation, the YOSO crew was given a tour of the campus by a student guide.
